IMPORTANT NOTES: #

  1. The policy number is the same as your insurance card number.
  2. OSHC is effective from the date the student is granted or extend Subclass 500 Student Visa. If the student does not hold a student visa, the insurer will not provide coverage or accept claims under any circumstances.
  3. Students must have a valid visa to activate their account.
  4. If the student holds a dependent visa, they must be covered under the policy of the main visa holder.
  5. Students should keep their boarding passes (in English) when flying from Vietnam and when leaving Australia, in case they need to request an OSHC refund.
  6. If a student has just applied for a student visa but is currently on a Bridging Visa and did not previously hold a student visa, they are not eligible to use OSHC. In this case, consider purchasing OVHC instead.
  7. For OSHC cancellations and refunds, students should contact nib directly for assistance.
  8. For any expected changes to your visa or other related matters, please contact Annalink’s partner for assistance as soon as possible.

OSHC NIB USER GUIDE #

  1. Activate Your NIB OSHC Card
    • Download the NIB App or log in to NIB Online Services.
    • Find your membership number in the confirmation email or on your certificate of insurance.
    • Access your digital membership card via the app — a physical card is usually not required unless you request one.
    • Update your personal details (email, phone number, address) so NIB can contact you when processing your claims.
  2. Find a Doctor or Medical Service
    • Use Find a Provider on the NIB app or website to locate clinics/hospitals.
    • Prefer providers with “Direct Billing / Agreement” — the clinic will send the invoice directly to NIB, so you won’t need to pay upfront.
    • If you visit a non-network provider, you will need to pay first and then submit a claim for reimbursement.
  3. When Visiting a Doctor
    • Present your NIB OSHC card (digital or physical).
    • Ask the clinic if they bill NIB directly.
    • If the consultation cost exceeds your coverage limit, you will need to pay the gap fee.
  4. How to Make a ClaimA. nib App
    • Select ‘Claims’ from the main navigation menu
    • Choose ‘Make a claim’
    • Pick the category for the service you’re claiming for. For example, if you are claiming glasses, select ‘Optical’ For some categories, you might need to provide extra documentation. Once you select your category, we’ll tell you exactly what’s needed
    • You can either scan your receipt or upload a photo or document of it Make sure your documents are clear and readable, as blurry images may lead to claim rejection
    • If you are happy with your claim, select ‘Submit claim’.

    B. Online member account

    • Log in to your member account Click here.
    • In the main navigation menu, select ‘Claim now’.
    • Pick the category for the service you’re claiming. For example, if you are claiming glasses, select ‘Optical‘. For some categories, you might need to provide extra documentation. Once you select your category, we’ll tell you exactly what’s needed
    • Upload a photo or document of your receipt Make sure your documents are clear and readable. Blurry images might lead to your claim being rejected
    • If you are happy with your claim, select ‘Submit claim‘.

    C. What happens after I submit a claim?

    Claims made in your member account will be processed within three to five business days. Extended processing times may result in a slight delay. You’ll be notified when the claim has been paid into your account. If your claim has been rejected, you’ll receive a claim rejection letter via the preferred method of contact we have listed for you.   5. Maintaining Your Coverage
    • Your OSHC must cover the entire duration of your student visa.
    • Renew before it expires to avoid any gap in coverage (which could affect your visa).
    • If you change your visa type, contact Annalink’s Partner to switch to a suitable insurance policy.
