How does Sonder work?
Sonder Australia provides access to a student safety network, which can provide 24/7 in-person critical incident assistance when required. Critical incidents are considered those that pose an immediate risk to the student’s health and welfare, e.g. where the student is:
- Hospitalised, injured or seriously ill
- Involved in an accident (e.g. vehicle, bicycle, sport)
- A victim of a crime or
- Needing to contact local emergency services (police, ambulance, fire, etc)
Sonder Australia members will enjoy the benefits of the Sonder mobile app, which includes four key functions: ACTIVATE HELP, CHECK ON ME, TRACK MY JOURNEY and I’M SAFE.
- ACTIVATE HELP
Activating the Help function accesses a team of support specialists ready to assist remotely or in person with a range of issues that affect members health, safety and wellbeing.
- CHECK ON ME
This feature is used by members to set a time for Sonder to check on their safety and wellbeing. It’s great for meeting new people solo, or at unfamiliar places like inspecting a new apartment, buying items off Gumtree or a social occasion.
- TRACK MY JOURNEY
This map-based feature allows members to navigate to their destination while Sonder tracks their progress to ensure their safety at all times – it’s particularly useful when travelling solo, late at night and/or in an unfamiliar environment.
- I AM SAFE
In the event of a large-scale public or environmental incident, this function enables Sonder Australia to immediately understand the safety of students via a geographic alert system.
