Sites around Australia and New Zealand
We’ve found priority sites across Australia and New Zealand where you and your team can help restore these significant locations:

Australia

Adelaide – Trott Park Creek is an environmentally significant site, with extensive plantings of Greybox woodland species and a creek line with remnants of the River Redgum Woodland.
Bathurst – Jordon Creek, located within the Blayney Road Reserve is part of Bathurst Regional Council’s “Racing to Save the Mount Panorama Woodlands” project which focuses on improving the quality of Box Gum Grassy Woodland on the slopes and foothills of Mount Panorama. The planting would help to revegetate, stabilise and provide habitat in a tributary of the Jordan Creek.
Brisbane – Toowong Milton Taringa Scout Camp encompasses the Toowong and Cubberla Creek catchments which both flow into and impact on Moreton Bay. To improve habitat for birds and butterflies, planting of mid and lower shrub species will be undertaken.
Canberra – Wandiyali Restoration Conservation Area is located just south of Queanbeyan. This site contains a mix of ecologically important vegetation types including remnant Box Gum Grassy Woodland, Yellow Box-Blakely’s Red Gum Grassy Woodland and temperate grassland and is habitat for local native species.
Darwin – McMinn’s Lagoon is located 30km South East of Darwin. McMinn’s Lagoon is an important feature in a network of wetlands across the region. It is an area of significant environmental, social and cultural value to the Larrikia people and is a focal point for the local community that contributes to their lifestyle and wellbeing.
Hobart – Old Lauderdale Landfill is surrounded by saltmarshes and bushland. It provides vital support for threatened flora and fauna species including the critically endangered Swift Parrot. New plantings will create a buffer zone from the saltmarshes, increase habitat for the Swift Parrot, reduce landfill leaching and connect fragmented bushland.
Mackay – De Moleyns Lagoon is a beautiful freshwater lagoon in the picturesque Pioneer Valley. The Lagoon was grazed by cattle until recently when the area was fenced off and revegetation of the degraded banks commenced. Improvements made to this unique environment have increased water quality and enticed native wildlife to return to the area.
Melbourne – The W. James Whyte Island Reserve is located 50 kilometres west of Melbourne, near Myrniong and was donated to Conservation Volunteers in 2006 by W. James Whyte. The former agricultural site is being transformed into a conservation reserve. Thousands of trees have been planted at the site which are turning this once barren landscape into a healthy and thriving habitat.
Newcastle – Tomago Wetlands is a 450 hectare wetland located within the Hunter Wetlands National Park on the northern shore of the Hunter River estuary, to the west of Fullerton Cove.
Perth – Woodman Point Regional Park, Munster marks the northern most part of Cockburn Sound with a unique coastline and the most extensive stands of Rottnest cypress found anywhere on the mainland. It features a traditional beach coastline, with a distinguishing bushy backdrop of remnant Tuart woodland.
Sydney – Sydney Olympic Park supports over 200 species of native birds, frogs, bats, possums and lizards, and contains over 300 hectares of threatened species habitat. It is a hotspot for all things natural, and protects habitats including the Green and Golden Bell Frog.
Townsville – Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park is located on the Northern outskirts of the Townsville coastline and offers spectacular views to magnetic Island and the City Skyline. Having undergone many uses from a Quarantine Station to Military Installation, cape Pallarenda is now a favoured destination for recreational actives.
New Zealand

Auckland – Whenua Rangitira is located just 7kms from Auckland’s CBD and is being steadily returned to its original cover of native bush thanks to the dedication of Okahu Rakau, who, with the help of the local community have grown and planted 180,000 plants in the past 10 years.
Wellington – Central Park. Interspersed by a network of walking tracks, including the City to Sea Walkway, Central Park is popular with commuters, families, and those who just want to get out and experience one of Wellington’s vibrant reserves. Due to its close proximity to Zealandia, the area is also home to a rich diversity of rare and endangered bird species such as kaka, tui, and the bellbird, all of which help to make central park one of the shining jewels in Wellington’s crown.

I trust Allianz Care since it is one of the largest insurance companies in Australia, with the medical centres where I only have to pay for what is left from insurance support. (no need to claim later). Besides, those centres are located at the centre of the city, close to schools. Very convenient, right? Credits to Allianz Care for providing reliable medical centres for health check and treatments.

I’ve been living with homestay family for 2 years. I’m now 19, I can move out but I don’t want to leave my host, who has become my family. It feels like I’ve met my second family. Thanks OSHCstudents for sending me to this homestay!

I realised how important insurance was when I started living in Australia. There I switched to using Allianz Care instead of the previous service. Allianz Care is extraordinarily good in its consulting service and customer care. I’ve learned a lot about Australian health care, also I was consulted with mental issues and how to live a healthy lifestyle. I am very happy now.

Thanks to Allianz Care, every time I claimed my medical receipts it processed much more quickly and easily than I expected. I was initially a bit concerned since Allianz Care is more expensive than other insurance companies, but now I can ensure that it is totally worth the money.
