Why studying abroad is a real game changer

OSHC Students – IT’S a tough decision to make: you’re set on a field you’d love to pursue, but do you study in your home country, or do you go abroad?

Of course, the decision is entirely different for each and every one of us, but there are a ton of reasons why studying abroad is a great idea, not to mention the fantastic life experience and CV-boosting potential.

Read on for exactly why we think studying abroad is the way forward…

You’ll find the best course for you

It’s always a good idea to take a look at the top universities for your particular course, no matter where in the world they are – your dream course might not be in the country you call home. With today’s highly competitive market for both university places and graduate jobs, it’s even more important to get an edge over other students and study on the best course possible.

Remember the sky’s the limit – if you find the perfect course in another country, why not look at what it takes to enrol? The QS World University Rankings are a good place to start and get an idea of which universities offer the best – and most interesting – course for you. You’ll discover that there’s a whole lot more choice when your options aren’t limited by geography and you look a little further afield – it could even be cheaper than studying at home.

You’ll open up opportunities

Sure, plenty of people stick to their native land to study, and go on to see some phenomenal success with a whole lot of great opportunities thrown in. But as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained – who knows what life as a student abroad could bring you? Perhaps you’ll get the chance to meet some of the best tutors and experts in your field, or the opportunity to intern at that company you’ve always dreamed of in that one and only city.

You’ll open up opportunities

Consider post-university life, too – if you have a good idea of the industry or career you’d like to get into, perhaps the location of your university would offer some interesting experiences and job opportunities for you once you’ve graduated and beyond.

You’ll travel and experience new cultures

Of course, this has to be one of the best and most life changing things about living abroad. You’ll experience a new country with new people, cultures, food, and things to do and learn a whole lot along the way. Not only do you get to experience the best that your chosen country has to offer, but you’ll be able to see neighbouring cities and countries which are closer to you than home too.

Many countries offer student visas that give you free range throughout that country whilst studying, so you may have opportunities to explore that aren’t possible for other people.

You never know when you may be able to travel for an extended period of time later in your life once your career kicks in, so taking advantage of your chance is a good idea. Don’t forget the people too, as you’re sure to make friends for life from all over the globe.

You’ll show your commitment

There’s a lot to be said for those students who take risks and leave everything behind to study in a different country in order to better themselves. Of course, employers will see the same – not only are you brave, independent, and adventurous, but clearly also ambitious and committed to yourself, your education, and your career.

You may even have to learn a new language which reflects even more impressive skills, so already you’re building a strong resume before you’ve even begun. Employers and peers will also respect your better understanding of other cultures and a global perspective on your industry, career, and life.

I trust Allianz Care since it is one of the largest insurance companies in Australia, with the medical centres where I only have to pay for what is left from insurance support. (no need to claim later). Besides, those centres are located at the centre of the city, close to schools. Very convenient, right? Credits to Allianz Care for providing reliable medical centres for health check and treatments.

I’ve been living with homestay family for 2 years. I’m now 19, I can move out but I don’t want to leave my host, who has become my family. It feels like I’ve met my second family. Thanks OSHCstudents for sending me to this homestay!

I realised how important insurance was when I started living in Australia. There I switched to using Allianz Care instead of the previous service. Allianz Care is extraordinarily good in its consulting service and customer care. I’ve learned a lot about Australian health care, also I was consulted with mental issues and how to live a healthy lifestyle. I am very happy now.

Thanks to Allianz Care, every time I claimed my medical receipts it processed much more quickly and easily than I expected. I was initially a bit concerned since Allianz Care is more expensive than other insurance companies, but now I can ensure that it is totally worth the money.
