OSHCstudents-Direct billing involves your doctor directly billing Medicare and accepting the Medicare benefit as full payment, which means you won’t have any out-of-pocket expenses.
What is direct billing?
Direct billing is an arrangement with hospitals and clinics where you pay for medical treatment directly. This means you won’t be out of pocket for your treatment costs. It comes as standard on all our health plans when you’re admitted to a hospital in our medical network for in-patient or day-patient treatment. You can also choose direct billing for outpatient treatment with some plans if you’re living in a country where direct billing is common. This means you’ll be settle your bills for doctor and specialist consultations directly with the clinic.
Direct billing network includes local doctors (GPs) and specialists who submit your claims to insurance providers directly. The insurance providers organize payment to be made directly to them, to give you a seamless electronic process which means you don’t have to fill out paperwork to have your claim processed.
Please note: MBS fees will be charged following the terms of some insurance providers. You should always check with your provider if they have a gap fee before incurring any costs.
